Faith Really is Like a Seed! (1st Primary Post)

Sunday, July 24, 2011

Last Sunday, in my Primary class, we learned about having faith in Jesus Christ. After readingAlma 32:28, I decided to demonstrate faith by planting some seeds with them. We had a little pot on hand, along with some extra soil and flower seeds from when we planted our garden earlier this summer. Each child poked some little holes in the soil and placed their seeds inside. They carefully covered the seeds and took turns pouring in a little water. I wish I would have taken photos that day. It was precious seeing them being so careful and deliberate! This little demonstration was a hit! Today (one week after planting the seeds) they wanted to know how they were growing.

We took the little pot back to our house after church last week and set it with the rest of our little garden on the balcony. We watered them every other day this week and by Friday they had already grown an inch!!

Here they are, compared to some flowers Nate planted a week before that haven't even sprouted.

Oh the faith of a child! Wouldn't it be great if we all had similar faith?

P.S. This is the start of a new series of posts and a new page! I'm going to post fun little ideas we have for Primary as a record for myself and anyone else who needs ideas! Feel free to submit ideas as well! :)

And oh yeah! Happy Pioneer Day!
