A house and a garden

and little feet running wild through the yard. And a river running through the backyard. That's all I want.

I found this image on Pinterest via Joy Kim's ideal settings board and after a little research, I found the original (here). (It seems to be a listing on a website for a company that rents out properties for photography shoots in Great Britan).

Isn't it breathtaking? The rest of the home is pretty lovely as well. The interior is a little too rustic for my taste though. I would probably modernize at least the kitchen and update the furniture.

With all my dreaming and planning, I have decided the house is not quite as important as the location. I want room for our kids to run. I want room to create. Room to plant and grow. Room to live!

More of my home dreams here, here and here.

Anyone interested in funding a trip for us to see this in person?

One day I'll get to go!!

Finding skirts that are long enough is always a struggle. Thankfully, I have found a few stylish options. A friend of mine had on a really great one today that she got at DI. Guess where I'm going tomorrow?

Denim skirt. Found here.

Like the pleats and the color combo. Found here.

Good look, minus the shoes. Found here.

LinkP.S. Have you seen this? Hilarious!

Don't bike people just look so happy?

I want venture to say that the quality of life goes up exponentially once you are a biker.
But that I do not know for sure because I am still without a bike.
That's ok, one more thing to add to my wishlist!

Best of Braids

Thursday, June 2, 2011

It's no secret that I'm a lover of braids. However, I feel that braids do not love me. The thickness of my hair with its many layers (that I'm trying desperately to grow out!) make my braids a little crazy. (Think of Stands with a Fist from Dances with Wolves). But I can't help from dreaming.

Here are a couple of my favorites found on Pinterest.

P.S. A Cup of Jo also has a couple schnazzy braid tutorials. A braided crown and braided top bun.

Salt Lake Temple

On Saturday, mom and I took a little trip up to Salt Lake and spent some time in the temple there. I have always wanted to go inside this one and mom hasn't been there since before I was born. We thought it was a good time to go! The temple is just as gorgeous on the inside as it is on the outside! Also there were like five weddings all competing for space to take photos...pretty glad we chose Orlando! It was a beautiful day and I am so glad I got to spend it with my mom!

This past Friday, my cousin Clay was married to his best friend, Haley at the Draper Utah LDS Temple! I loved being at the temple with them. Being around family in such a sacred place is always a treat!

Mr. and Mrs. Clay George :)

Leah, me and Leigh Anna. I don't get enough time spent with these girls!

Haley's sister Taylor made the bridesmaids necklaces. Pretty schnazzy, no?

Just some of my favorite people in the world!

Aren't they cute?

Courtney's face ;)

The George Family :)

Aunt Janet and her other daughter, Leah. ;)

Sibling love! ♥

I love these two!

Tree Flowers

Check out this tree! There are a whole lot of them below the bell tower on campus. Flowers growing straight out of the limb! So beautiful! We were continually amazed by some new landscaping on the south part of campus, but more about that later. Anyone know what kind of tree this is? Maybe a cousin to Japenese cherry blossoms? Or is this a cherry blossom? I really need a botany lesson.

Fresh Flowers and a Recycled Vase

Sunday, May 22, 2011

Lately, nothing makes me happier than fresh flowers. I plucked these from some overgrown bushes in front of our apartment. (Hope that's legal...)

Don't they just make you feel happy?

Side-note: The vase was a strawberry syrup bottle before I cleaned it out to be used as a vase. I love recycling!

So I discovered Pinterest today and am totally addicted. So much beauty! So much DIY! I absolutely love it! I am sure there is more to it than I know now! But here are some of my favorite ideas for the home:

This would be so perfect for a kid's playroom. Can be found here.

This under-stairs storage is genius! Although, it takes away one of my favorite hide-aways as a kid. Can be found here.

Also another genius idea. I can't wait to try this!

P.S. If you want to start on Pinterest, I think you have to be invited. So let me know and I'll invite you!

I can't wait til the Provo Farmer's Market! It starts June 4 and every Saturday following. I want some fresh flowers! (Not purchased at Smith's Grocery!) In the meantime, I will drool over these peonies in Paris.

P.S. What do you think of the new header? I made it on Picnick!

I found the sunshine!

It's been cold and even snowy this week in the valley and I am sick of it. My birthday is in two weeks and I decided if it snows on my birthday I will fly home that day, no questions. But today the sun is finally out. I shed my coat and enjoyed the sunshine on my walk to work!

Boleros?

Friday, April 8, 2011

I thought I was over boleros until I saw this one on Anthro's wedding line BHLDN.
G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S

And then I decided I definitely wasn't over boleros when I saw this one.
It's utterly timeless. A real heirloom.
Keep it coming Anthro.

Just finished watching "Fiddler on the Roof" for the first time.
Add it to your Netflix right now!
I don't know why I have deprived myself from this gem my whole life!
It has some amazing music and a beautiful story.
(And lots of lessons about family and marriage!)

Don't you love her veil?!

One of my favorite scenes!

This scene just melted my heart!

Even after three hours...I was wishing for more!
